GET A SPRITZ OF SUMMER AT AN ITALIAN-INSPIRED ESCAPE
Looking for a place to revel in the summer sun? We get it. As Italians, we know there’s nothing quite like dining all’aperto (outdoors) or enjoying an aperitivo in a city square during the warmer months. That’s why we’re bringing you the best of Eataly outside and opening up our outdoor space for everyone to enjoy all season long.
Grab your best amici and get a spritz of Italian summer (without ever leaving Toronto) as you kick back and relax at the all-new breezy, colourful Il Patio di Eataly by Aperol.
THE PERFECT PAIRINGS
A true Italian patio is not complete without food and drinks. Our expansive cocktail menu will feature a variety of summer sippers including ever-popular Italian Aperol Spritzes, regional vini, and refreshing craft beer from Indie Alehouse.
Choose from a selection of classic Torino-style Pizza al Padellino, including the Margherita topped with Mutti tomato sauce, housemade mozzarella, fresh basil, and dishes to share like our Fritto Misto di Mare, lightly fried Gulf shrimp, calamari, market fish, vegetables, and a refreshing slice of lemon. If you’re craving the season’s best produce, you can even dive into our seasonal salads made with fresh ingredients and housemade dressings.
Since we’re Italian, we can’t forget about the perfect drinks to pair. Make your aperitivo hour even better with a cocktail made with Aperol paired with one of our summer spiedini, and enjoy your meal with a bottle of regional Italian vino.
THE STORY OF THE SPRITZ
The spritz was born in Veneto during the 1800s when visitors from the Hapsburg Empire would lighten the strong Italian wine from local taverns with a splash of water. Today, the Aperol Spritz is a mixture of equal parts Aperol and Prosecco and a splash of soda water garnished with an orange wedge.
But wait – what is Aperol?
Aperol is a traditional Italian Aperitivo that one can detect flavours of citrus and rhubarb infused with notes of herbs and roots. It is prepared according to a secret and original recipe that has remained unchanged since its birth in 1919. Unmistakable by its vibrant orange colour, Aperol gives the Spritz a cheerful glow but also a bright refreshing bittersweet taste.
