HOW TO: BUILD AN ANTIPASTO BOARD
Bring your favourite Italian deli experience to your own kitchen with local and Italian cured meats and cheeses, the perfect pairings of fresh fruit and Italian preserves, and more for a flavourful start to any Italian meal.
What will you need for your board?
1. CHOOSE SALUMI.
Choose two or three varieties of thinly-sliced cured meats, such as Coppa Piacentina DOP.
2. SELECT FORMAGGI.
Choose one or two soft cheeses, like as Parmigiano Reggiano DOP Aged 22 Months. Known as the “King of Cheese,” Parmigiano Reggiano DOP is made in Emilia-Romagna according to a centuries’ old tradition that uses a mix of whole and partially-skimmed milk from locally-raised cows, sea salt, and rennet.
On a separate plate, drizzle honey, figs, and other sweet spreads to accompany the salumi and formaggi.
4. ADD COLOUR.
Add a few colourful preserved vegetables, such as Calabrese olives, semi-dried tomatoes, or grilled artichokes, in ramekins nearby. Or, if a sweeter taste is desired (because why not?), include a selection of fruits, like grapes, apples, or pears.
5. EAT THAT PANE.
What is a platter without bread? Slice a loaf of bread thinly like our bread loaves baked fresh every morning; include grissini, or Italian breadsticks, for some bonus crunch! Your guests will love pairing all the mixings together into their own bruschetta or wrapped breadstick.
